The primary purpose of the Sustainable Design Supplementary Planning Document is to provide guidance to ensure that the new development delivers the Core Strategy objectives. Its purpose is to provide guidance for the development industry, the constituent authorities and members of the public on how new developments should be constructed in a sustainable way to meet or exceed current best practice standards.
The SPD relates to the impacts on sustainable resource use arising from construction and occupation of individual buildings and the layout and design of whole developments.
